How To Keep Sane Whilst Keeping Your Luggage Company

October 13, 2011 By: admin Category: Travel Tips

None of us particularly enjoy the experience of carrying our luggage around with us on the way to, or coming back from our holiday. We all perhaps wish earnestly that we could reduce the quantity of luggage that we take with us, or that somehow they would invent luggage that would be able to compress all of our belongings so that perhaps they would pop conveniently into a pocket, yet at the same time be able to be unpacked and fill an entire wardrobe.

Sadly this isn’t possible, and so we have to think of ways in which we can strike a balance between taking enough for us to be able to enjoy our holiday successfully, whilst at the same time being careful not to take too much so that we end up almost breaking our back just getting to our holiday.

It is always important to spend plenty of time before you go away thinking about what you will actually need to take with you. It is easy to fall into the trap of looking at the usual sorts of outfits that we wear, and putting them wholesale into your case. With careful thought, possibly with a need to purchase specific items, it is preferable to consider taking a range of separate items, all of which will be fully interchangeable with each other. It is more often the case that taking several items which are all interchangeable takes up less room, but at the same time provides greater flexibility and versatility when you are away, than does taking individualised set outfits. Planning The Return Journey With Your Luggage

October 04, 2011 By: admin Category: Travel Tips

So, you have successfully travelled abroad, and survived the experience. Now laden with an armful or two of wonderful souvenirs for yourself and your obligatory loved ones back home, you stare in open mouthed awe at the impossibly small case you brought with you. It seems almost impossible that you really managed to cram all of your items into that bag or case, and you shake your head in wonder that you never had the foresight to imagine that you might wish to return home with trophies of your visit. Where, pray, do they go?

We have almost certainly all found ourselves in this kind of situation, and the end result is usually a combination of cramming and shoving our belongings into our bag in any way they will go, regardless of the likely condition of them at the other end. The bag is almost certainly strained as close to breaking point as you dare go, and your carry on luggage now, instead of a single convenient shoulder bag, now has grown to a shoulder bag and three wieldy, delicate and fiddly carrier bags whose handles may, or may not survive the trip. At least one handle will snap, resulting in a constant battle for survival.

So, how does one plan for this eventuality before leaving for your trip in the first place? There are several tried and tested methods, and planning ahead, giving these methods a try will save you a great deal of effort later, and be far more likely to result in fewer breakages. (more…)

Top Tips For Travelling Lightly

September 28, 2011 By: admin Category: Travel Tips

Almost all of us have, at one time or another, come to accept the realisation that, yet again, we have packed far too much for our trip away. Carrying the sheer weight of all the excess baggage can start to make us feel in need of a holiday by itself. If you have ever taken the time after a holiday to look through the items being unpacked, you’ll have been astonished by the number of items you didn’t ever use, or used very rarely, and only because it happened to be there. Yet, despite this excellent learning opportunity, when next year rolls around and we have a chance to improve our packing performance, we make the exact same mistakes all over again.

There are a few basic tips which can greatly improve the overall space and weight of the luggage you take, and it really needs very little extra effort to achieve a considerable improvement. The first piece of advice is to start planning early, and collect together the items you think you will need early on. Planning in advance can save you a considerable amount of weight, as it is often those people who pack at the last minute who over pack, and take much more than they need. Planning in advance will give you time to think through carefully all the possibilities and needs you are really likely to face. Think about the weather and the sorts of activities you are likely to be doing.

When it comes to clothes, ignore your usual outfits and combinations and start thinking sensibly about three things. Firstly, items which need very little maintenance. If they tend to wrinkle easily, forget them. Secondly, think about items which will go with most of the other items you are taking. If your whole travelling wardrobe mixes together, you will have a large enough array of combinations to see you through. Thirdly, be realistic about what you are going to need, based on your destination and likely activities. (more…)

Honeymoon at Caribbean luxury hotels

September 12, 2011 By: admin Category: Travel Tips

Some Caribbean luxury hotels make a good venue for wedding ceremonies and beach marriages, as they are located near beaches. Some top end luxury hotels have golf courses, tennis courts and other sporting activities to keep people busy when they are not too keen on sunning it on the beach. Water sports, diving and swimming are a popular activity amongst young couples and young people, as this is usually taken part with other people and instructors.

There are other affordable and budget  Caribbean luxury hotels available for those looking to travel without being too frivolous with their money. The luxurious side of the Caribbean does not necessarily need to be enjoyed indoors in a hotel, as this is more than made up for by their beautiful colourful views and white sandy beaches. In addition, with the deep blue sea and warming blue sky, makes it near impossible for you to stay indoors in a hotel.

Some of the budget accommodations will not offer spa treatments or sporting activities, however, they may include en-suite bathrooms with all double bedrooms and a choice of entertainments. Often, people find it easier to stay at bed and breakfasts or hostels, as this allows them the freedom to explore the island more rather than spending time indoors. This would suit people looking to do more sightseeing than enjoying luxury treatments in a hotel. (more…)
